Uttar Pradesh police constable, Sachin Rathi, succumbed to bullet injuries sustained during a raid on a history-sheeter criminal (person with long criminal record) in a village in Kannauj. The police team faced heavy gunfire when attempting to serve a non-bailable warrant to criminal Ashok alias Munna Yadav.
During the exchange of fire, Constable Rathi was hit by a bullet that lodged in his abdomen, and despite medical efforts, he died at a hospital in Kanpur on Tuesday morning. The criminal and his son were arrested after the shoot-out, with the police discovering weapons and crude bombs at their residence.
